iSKATE magazine ceases publication

UK skating magazine iSKATE has ceased publication, not even publishing what was to be its final print edition for August/September.

The iSKATE website simply says:

“It is with regret that due to unforeseen circumstances it has been decided not to print the August/ September issue of iSKATE. iSKATE magazine would like to thank all of its subscribers over the years and it is a great sorrow that we will be no longer publishing anymore editions.”

The magazine has reported enthusiastically on the achievements of UK skaters both at home and abroad, including the Isle of Wight synchronized skating teams. It has charted the rise of IW junior team the Wight Jewels to British champions and reported on the team’s improved performance each year at the Junior World Challenge Cup. Team member Izzi Parkes even featured as a cover girl on one issue.

iSKATE is purported to be continuing in some form on the web. Whether this will happen, and what form it will take remains to be seen. The print form will be sorely missed.

The blog at therinkreport continues to maintain news about what’s happening to UK ice rinks – new developments, redevelopments, closures and such – items that used to appear in the Rinks Update section of iSKATE.
