Skating Club

The Isle of Wight Ice Dance & Figure Skating Club still exists in spite of the closure of Ryde ice rink. It is not alone in being a club without a home rink: Southampton ice skating club has existed since 1988 without a rink. The AGM in May 2017 provided enough committee members for the club to continue.

The purpose of the club is to allow skaters from the IW to continue to skate under the IW name at competitions across the UK through its affiliation with the National Ice Skating Association (NISA). This is particular relevant for the IW’s synchronised skating teams, who continue to train at Gosport and Bracknell ice rinks, and a dedicated group of solo skaters.

Items particularly relevant to the club are now given the tag Club News on iowskaters.com
