The Isle of Wight Ice Dance & Figure Skating Club’s skater of the month for February is Roxy Collins.
Roxy has all the attributes we are looking for: she shows that she has good sportsmanship, is a team player, helpful, polite, dedicated, conscientious and an excellent role mode. Roxy has been skating since she was five years old and has been a member of the IW synchronized skating teams from eight years old.
Coach Terri Smith said: “Roxy is 17 years old and has grown into an elegant skater. Since Ryde Arena closed Roxy has been training with me at Guildford and Gosport to complete her level 9 and 10 field moves. I’ve only had seven skaters achieve this test and training without a rink has been a challenge.
“Roxy’s hard work and dedication to success is amazing and her results show this. Roxy became joint captain of the Wight Jewels this season and is always happy to help her team mates and younger members of our club. She has happily covered my off ice synchro classes and her positive attitude makes her a brilliant role model for our club. She is always happy to help.”
