IW-born Tommy-Jo Nyman won the intermediate level event at the 2015 US Eastern Sectionals held on 19 to 23 November in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Scoring 36.95 in the short and lying in second place, he racked up 74.23 in the free for a total of 111.18, taking gold by 9.56 points overall. His win at sectionals entitles him to compete at the US Figure Skating Championships.

TJ, who skates at Space Coast Iceplex, Rockledge, Florida, is coached by his mother Katie McGovern, formerly head coach at Planet Ice in Ryde.
