Tommy-Jo Nyman, son of former Ryde head coach Katie Nyman, won the juvenile boys title at the US Figure Skating Championships in Boston this week.
TJ , who skates at Space Coast Iceplex, Rockledge, Florida, where Katie now coaches, won the South Atlantic juvenile boys title in October 2013, qualifying him for the Eastern Sectional Championships in Ashburn, Virginia, on 19-23 November. His win at sectionals qualified him for the US championships.
His first steps on the ice were as a toddler aged just eight months at Planet Ice Ryde, and he skated there up to the age of three, when he left with his family for the USA.
His win has now been reported on icenetwork.com.
TJ and skating partner Sarah Rose also took bronze in the juvenile pairs event at the championships.
