Seven skaters travelled to Alexandra Palace opens on 9 and 10 October, adding a further nine medals to the Island’s collection.

Gemma Fishel opened the successful run, placing third in the level 2 event for girls aged 11 and over.

Archie Bicknell achieved a personal best, taking two first places at the same opens, winning in the level 2 boys and with his artistic programme.

Sarah Close, performing both her programmes for the first time in competition, also came up ‘trunks’ with first place in the level 1 girls aged 11 and over and in the artistic event for level 1 and under, skating as Nellie the Elephant. Sabrina Danzig placed second in the same artistic event.

Sarah England, Phoena Wilmott-Bayer and Emma Wilks, heavily disguised as the Addams Family, took third in the artistic groups.

All skaters are coached by Terri Fleming and train at Ryde Arena.

The Island’s skaters can be seen in the Christmas ice skating show on the 8 to 10 December. For more details, please contact Ryde Arena.
