Turning in a score of 55.86 in the free, Wight Jewels managed to stay ahead of Skating Graces of Germany and therefore off the bottom in the junior event at the French Cup.
An overall score of 80.82 is way down on last week’s score at Gothenburg, showing what a difference a change of technical and judging panel can make between IJS events. The Jewels skated more confidently in Rouen, had at long last a fall-free programme, but to no apparent avail.
On the plus side, the free programme score was not far off Black Diam’s score of 58.60. And even the Jewels’ lowest score of the season in Europe so far is still 10 points higher than last season’s best.
Although the official announcement about the UK’s selection for the junior worlds is still some days away, it will clearly be Nottingham Icicles that go. iowskaters would like to wish them luck.
