IW synchronized skating team the Wight Jewels had a civilized start today when they set off for the Junior World Challenge Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden – a ferry at midday.
The team, resplendent in new performance team track suits from NISA, flew from Stansted to Gothenburg City airport, and have now checked in to the Slottsskogens hostel, one of the official hotels for the event. The journey was uneventful apart from a rather abrupt landing, when pretty well everyone was grateful for seatbelts – at least Ryanair hasn’t started charging extra for them yet.
The hostel is basic but clean and modern, and tops the accommodation at some previous events in Europe by some way.
Wight Jewels have a two-hour practice session in the morning to help further acclimatize to a large ice rink.
