Shanklin Conservative Club named Wight Jewels and Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance as its two fund-raising causes in 2010, and last Saturday presented the Jewels with a cheque for £800 at a special dinner.
Unfortunately, the Jewels were unable to attend in person because the event clashed with a late-night training session in Basingstoke, as they build up to the junior world championship in Neuchatel, Switzerland, next month. The donation was accepted on their behalf by coach Terri Smith’s parents, Lynda and John Fleming, both of whom are councillors on Shanklin town council.
The Jewels would like to express their gratitude to Shanklin Conservative Club for making such a generous donation.
