The Wight Jewels synchonized skating team held onto their title at the British Synchronized Skating Championships on 18 and 19 February, taking first place at junior level.
The team led from the front in the short programme on day one with a score of 32.84, against Nottingham’s 25.90 and Lee Valley’s 21.23. On day two, the team extended its lead, scoring 57.95 in the long, against Nottingham’s 52.00 and Lee Valley’s 38.12, producing final results of 1. Wight Jewels 90.79, 2. Nottingham Icicles 77.90, 3. Lee Valley Aura 59.36.
The Jewels’ total score of 90.79 is a personal best for the team. In the previous British championships the team won with a score of 69.82, so they have improved 20.97 points since then.
At juvenile level the Wight Crystals came second with a score of 25.95, and at preliminary level the Wight Gems also came second with a score of 22.96.
