British Synchronized Skating Championships 2014: Saturday

IW synchronized skating team Wight Fossils made an impressive debut in the adults category of the British Synchronized Skating Championships, finishing in the top 10.

Skating second, the team moved gracefully to a series of level one elements, scoring 15.36, which proved good enough to secure 9th place. With the next two teams all within just over a mark, the Fossils have some clear targets in sight for future competitions.

The class was won by Starlight Rain from Braehead, with Bracknell Fusion second and Hull Northern Stars third.

A score of 18.65 put the Wight Sparkles 4th in the juveniles. The event was won by Nottingham Silhouettes, Solway Lightning from Dumfries were 2nd and Altrincham Whizz Kids third.

Wight Jewels laid the ghost of Cardiff’s short programme last year, skating strongly and cleanly for a score of 29.86. For the new Jewels team this is a score well up with those of their predecessors. However an impressive clean skate from Icicles saw the Nottingham team score 37.84, giving them a clear lead after the junior short programme.
