Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, 16 to 18 August

The Isle of Wight Ice Dance & Figure Skating Club is holding a Mad Hatter’s Tea Party at Ryde Grand Carnival Regatta this week on 16 to 18 August.

Ryde Carnival Association and Ryde Town Council are hosting the annual regatta at Appley Park, North Walk, Ryde, as part of the carnival’s 125th anniversary celebrations. Activities include displays, stalls, music and beach games. The IW club’s stand is one of these attractions.

Update: Club members braved appalling wet and windy weather on the Friday and Saturday, then a bakingly hot Sunday, to raise £312.57. Considering the poor layout of the event, lack of event publicity, and the siting of the stall in a car park away from prime footfall, the amount raised is a credit to the hard work of Margaret Mumford and her helpers.
