Despite an eventful and long journey up to Dumfries for the 2013 Trophy D’Ecosse, junior team Wight Jewels and novice team Wight Crystals are settled into accommodation about 20 miles from Dumfries.
With a replacement coach on its way, the teams are currently being transported by minibuses provided by local firm Criffel Coaches, and in the cars of parents who trekked north for the event.
Only Wight Jewels took to the ice on the Friday, for the junior short programme. They delivered possibly the best rendition of their routine to the Puss Suite, from Puss in Boots, full of passion and quite simply smouldering enough to make the likes of Bruno Tonioli a mite excitable. The score of 31.15 is their best yet at an ISU event this season.
Dumfries team Solway Stars, the only other junior team at the event, skated second to score 17.28, leaving the Jewels comfortably ahead.
Wight Crystals take to the ice today, Saturday, for the Basic Novice event, and the Jewels skate in the junior free.
Wight Sparkles are travelling up today to compete in Sunday’s Elementary event.
Good luck to all your teams skating today from NSSA
Many thanks. Good luck and congratulations to the NSSA teams – thought Ice Pops looked good in practice this morning, and Rocking Robins excelled yesterday.
