Sponsored walk helps Wight Gems

Ten members of preliminary-level synchronized skating team the Wight Gems walked from Ryde to Newport on Saturday 26 March to raise funds for costumes for their new programme, which is skated to music from Phantom of the Opera.

The sponsored walk started outside Kids and Co in Ryde and finished at the Blue Door cafe in Newport.

The Gems who walked were: Kirsty Atter, Hannah Barfoot, Sophie-Rose Broadley-Darby, Milly Button, Charlotte Pedley, Cam Probert, Phoebe Ockendon, Keelin Scholes, Beckie Vockins and Megan Wood. Team members were accompanied by Janet Button and Janet Marsh

Other members of the team who were unable to join the walk are Lauren Bridger, Clare Mennie and Sydney Rose-Jackson.

A raffle organised by Kim Probert and Val Hadlow took place in Ryde and Newport, raising almost £100.

Ladies Realm, in honour of its 50th anniversary, has kindly agreed to donate £1,000 to the team, which will put the total raised for the team to about £1,500.
