The Wight Jewels and the Wight Crystals synchronized skating teams were again crowned Scottish champions after competing at at SK8 Scotland on 17 October 2009 at Dumfries Ice Bowl.
Skating at junior level, the Jewels faced Nottingham Icicles, and emerged ahead after the short programme with a score of 31.95. The Jewels extended their lead in the free programme, scoring 43.36, for an overall total of 75.31, a personal best for the team.
The Wight Crystals, at juvenile level, scored 20.69 to put them first of a field of four.
The newly established team that now comprises the Wight Gems competed at preliminary level, scoring 17.44 to place them fourth.
Along with the Wight Gems, the Jewels and the Crystals travelled overnight by coach to Dumfries to arrive in time for the morning practise session, with the competition itself taking place in the afternoon. The teams then travelled back by coach to the Island, arriving early Sunday morning.
