Wight Jewels’ performance in the Spring Cup in Milan last weekend has proved enough so see them named the UK entry for the Junior World Challenge Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden, on 15 to 17 March.
By 6pm today the UK entry on the official JWCC 2012 site had changed from Nottingham Icicles to current British champions and only performance team the Wight Jewels. The Jewels scored 63.45 in Milan, higher than Icicles’ 62.94 at the French Cup in Rouen on 2 to 4 February, giving them a majority on points when applied to NISA’s selection criteria for deciding between performance teams.
Confirmation appeared on the NISA website on 24 February – the entry is dated 22 February but the site was down or misbehaving for most of 22 and 23 February: http://www.iceskating.org.uk/node/5246
