Skating in their first international event at advanced novice level, IW synchronized skating team Wight Crystals achieved a technical elements score of 16.01 and a programme components score of 13.25.
With two deductions, for a fall and a warm-up time penalty, their overall score was 27.26.
Although this meant they finished in 7th place, the score was higher than that achieved at last November’s British championships and they were only 0.33 points behind 6th-placed Ice Diamonds of Italy and 1.51 points behind 5th-placed Ice on Fire of Italy. It’s an excellent international start for a team that only moved up to novice level for the 2011-12 season.
